Step-by-Step of Egg Donation

Learn more about what to expect during each step of the Egg Donor Process

After you're accepted to our Southern California Egg Donor program you will need to complete the Egg Donor Profile we send you in our initial Acceptance Email, and send the high-quality, flattering photos we request. We need 15-20 current photos of you, and 10-15 baby/toddler and adolescent photos.

When your photos and Egg Donor Profile are received, we can post you on our Egg Donor Database.

AMH Test for Egg Donors: After we post you on our Egg Donor Database, we have your AMH level tested at a Quest lab near you, as this hormone provides valuable information about your ovarian reserve. All costs are fully covered.

Video Call: You will meet with one of our Egg Donor Coordinators so we can get to know you, provide an overview of the Egg Donor Process, and answer any questions you have.

Egg Donor Matching: Once we have the results from your AMH test, we work on making you an Egg Donor Match with Intended Parents. The Egg Donor Matching process moves quickly for some Egg Donors and a bit slower for others.

Egg Donors have a better chance of being matched quickly when they provide thoughtful, thorough answers in the Egg Donor Profile, and provide numerous flattering photos.

Genetic Carrier Screening for Egg Donors: After you have a confirmed match with Intended Parents, the Fertility Clinic where the Intended Parents are being treated have a genetic testing kit mailed to you.

This test is a vial that you fill with saliva then mail back in a prepaid envelope. It takes about three to four weeks for the clinic to receive the results.

Many Egg Donors are eager to complete Genetic Carrier Screening as it reveals if they are a carrier for any of the over 250 gene mutations screened for in this test. The exact testing panel used can vary from clinic to clinic.

Psychological Evaluation for Egg Donors: While we wait for the results from your Genetic Carrier Screening, we schedule your psychological evaluation.

The Egg Donor Psychological Evaluation is a video call with the very kind psychologist we work with. She'll ensure you don't have a personal or family history of depression, anxiety, or other mental health challenges, and that you are emotionally ready to complete an Egg Donor cycle.

Genetic Risk Assessment: We also schedule a call for you with a Genetic Counselor who reviews your personal and family health history with you to ensure there are no issues that could pose a genetic risk to the children conceived through Donor Eggs.

Medical Evaluation: After the Fertility Clinic reviews the results from your Genetic Carrier Screening, Psychological Evaluation, and Genetic Risk Assessment, they schedule your Egg Donor Medical Evaluation.

This evaluation includes an ultrasound and blood work, and a urinalysis to test for STDs and drugs. It typically takes about a week for the clinic to receive results from these tests.

During this visit you'll likely meet with the Fertility Doctor who will oversee your Egg Donor Cycle, and the Nurse Coordinator who works with you and our Egg Donor Agency to schedule your appointments. The Nurse Coordinator also reviews the Egg Donor Fertility Medications with you and answers any questions you have.

If you are not within driving distance to the clinic, we will book you airfare, accommodations, and a rental car for this overnight trip. You will also receive reimbursement of up to $75/day for food.

Egg Donor Contract Review: Once the clinic receives the results from your Medical Evaluation and confirms you're medically cleared, we can begin legal.

Legal involves a phone call with the family law attorney we retain for you to review the contract between you and the Intended Parents. After the contract is signed by all parties, legal clearance is sent to the Fertility Clinic.

Cycle Calendar: Following receipt of legal clearance, the Fertility Clinic creates your Egg Donor Cycle calendar that outlines when you'll start fertility medications and the anticipated dates for your medical evaluations and egg retrieva

Before the clinic creates your Cycle Calendar, we request your blackout dates to ensure the cycle occurs during a period of time when you are available.

Egg Donor Cycle: Once you confirm that the proposed Cycle Calendar works for you, your Fertility Medications are mailed to your home.

During the first 4-5 days you’re on Fertility Medications you’ll typically have one to two appointments at an outside monitoring clinic we will find close to your home. These evaluations consist of an ultrasound and blood work to assess how your body is responding to the Fertility Medications.

Around day 5 or 6 of medications you’ll travel to the location where the primary Fertility Clinic is located (the same location where you completed the Medical Evaluation).

You'll be there for about 5-7 days and return home the day after your Egg Retrieval

Our Egg Donor Agency books a flight for both you and a companion, in addition to accommodations, and a rental car for this trip. You also receive reimbursement of up to $75/day for food during this trip, and your companion $50/day.

Payment: You'll receive $500 of your Egg Donor Fee the first day you start Fertility Medications, and the remainder the day after the Egg Retrieval, regardless of how many eggs are retrieved.

The Egg Donor Coordinator assigned to your case is by your side for each step of this journey, ensuring you feel fully supported as you provide this incredible gift to the Intended Parents lucky enough to match with you.
